Student Design Competition: Yangon × Bath Design & Innovation

We're delighted to launch the Yangon × Bath Design & Innovation Competition, developed with our friend and collaborator Chaw Kalyar of Statement Architecture + Design, as part of the British Council sponsored Connections Through Culture programme.

Students are invited to respond to the question:

“How can Yangon’s material heritage and local knowledge work with Bath’s architectural and engineering expertise to create a more resilient and sustainable built environment?”

We welcome creative and quick-fire ideas on topics including material innovation, climate resilience, sustainable construction, heritage and community resilience.

Awards

Three winning entries will receive:

  • A complimentary ticket to the OAA Project Day in London on 10th November

  • An invitation to join a roundtable debate with Chaw Kalyar

  • An opportunity to showcase work to the OAA network / British Council

Entry Requirements

Please submit your ideas on one A3 sheet (individual or pair entries welcome).

Deadline for OAA Day showcase and awards: 7 November 2026

Final submission deadline: 13 November 2026
